Interview with Electric Bike Commuter
Our research group asked the electric cyclist a few questions to help us have a better understanding of why they made this change to an electric bike and some understanding of their typical journey to work and home.
Interview – Key Points:
Electric Cyclist
- Doesn’t feel safe around intersections at all but does feel reasonably safe on the cycle ways he takes.
- Cycles to save to money on transport and parking cost as well as keep up good health and fitness.
- Cycleways are feel safer to ride along than normal paths and roads.
- Dogs may chase your bike while cycling which is quite annoying as a cyclist.
Distance for cyclists ride to work:
- 25km one way
- 45 mins on electric bike compared to over an hour on normal bicycle.
- 25 mins in car
Costs to own and maintain an electric bike:
- $1500 Electric Bike
- New battery every 3 years
- battery size for further distance
